Tracey Emin a terrific artist? Really? Not too worried about her being "neutralised" by the establishment.

Not too sure if Emin and co could really be said to embody a political movement as much as self-interested 'personality' promoters..

People just like to hate Tracey Emin because they think art is about painting lovely pictures. Ever thought it's that you don't understand her work?

Why does something have to exist outside of the establishment in order to be a force in art? Surely it's only by becoming mainstream that the artwork gains access to the general public and could begin having an influence on society? So radical art should be embracing gaining access to the establishment rather than shying away from being "neutralised"?
