David Pearce is an independent philosopher and co-founder of the World Transhumanist Association, currently incorporated as Humanity+. His influential manifesto, The Hedonistic Imperative, outlines how pharmacology, genetic engineering, nanotechnology and neurosurgery could converge to eliminate all forms of unpleasant experience from human and non-human life. He is currently a Fellow at the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies.
