Gaurav Suri is Associate Professor of Cognitive Psychology at San Francisco State University and Distinguished Scientist (Visiting) at The Center of Affective Science at Stanford University. He is the co-author of The Emergent Mind: How Intelligence Arises in People and Machines (Macmillan, 2025), which was a New Scientist Book of the Year. He is currently working on a new book, Hot Minds, which examines how motivation works in humans and what it would take to build motivated machines.
