Jason Ānanda Josephson Storm is Professor of Religion and Chair of Science & Technology Studies at Williams College. He is one of the leading theorists of metamodernism, a movement seeking to move beyond postmodern scepticism while retaining its critical insights. Storm’s work challenges some of the foundational categories through which modern societies understand themselves, including religion, science, art, and knowledge itself.
In his celebrated book Metamodernism: The Future of Theory After Postmodernism, Storm argues for a new approach to the humanities and social sciences that moves beyond deconstruction towards a more constructive account of reality, meaning, and social change. His earlier work, The Myth of Disenchantment, challenged the idea that modernity simply replaced magic and religion with rational science, revealing the persistence of enchantment within the modern world.
