Mark Solms is Chair of Neuropsychology at the University of Cape Town, where he directs the Neuropsychology Department and heads the International Neuropsychoanalysis Society. He is best known for pioneering the field of neuropsychoanalysis, integrating psychoanalytic theory with neuroscience. His major publications include The Brain and the Inner World (Routledge, 2002), with Oliver Turnbull; The Hidden Spring: A Journey to the Source of Consciousness (Norton, 2021); and the definitive revised English translation and edition of Sigmund Freud's complete psychological works.
