Sarah Demers

Groundbreaking particle physicist

Sarah Demers is a particle physicist and the Horace D. Taft Professor of Physics at Yale University.  Her recent work has focused on uncovering properties of the Higgs Boson with the ATLAS Collaboration at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider. Demers was a postdoctoral researcher with Stanford’s SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory before joining Yale’s faculty in 2009. While at Yale Professor Demers received an Early Career Award grant from the Department of Energy and the Yale Provost Teaching Award. Demers is also well known for her collaboration with professional dancer, writer, and director of the Yale Dance Studies Curriculum Emily Coates. Demers and Coates co-teach a Physics of Dance class together at Yale and are writing a coursebook under contract with Yale University Press.
