Jason Ānanda Josephson Storm is a leading theorist of metamodernism, a movement that moves beyond postmodern scepticism while retaining its critical insights. From the rubble left by Nietzschian and postmodern critiques of truth and reason, he forges a new path towards a reality that he sees as in constant flux. By challenging some of the foundational categories through which modern societies understand themselves—including religion, science, and art—he constructs a new way of approaching reality. The result is a new picture of knowledge, which incorporates doubt and avoids the essentializing categories of the past. 

Storm’s latest book, Metamodernism: The Future of Theory After Postmodernism, has been hailed by reviewers as “a new way of going beyond modernity,” while his earlier work, The Myth of Disenchantment, challenged the idea that modernity simply replaced magic and religion with rational science, revealing the persistence of enchantment within the modern world. He is Chair of Science & Technology Studies and Professor of Religion at Williams College.
