IAI Live January: Consciousness in the Machine

Consciousness, AI and spacetime - in association with Closer To Truth

IAI Live is a monthly special featuring a whole host of events. An IAI Live ticket, or Premium Live subscriber access, gets you into to all the events part of IAI Live: The Headline Debate, The Solo Talk, The Opening Interview, two documentary screenings, and music. See the timetable below for details.

This January 9th, the focus lies on consciousness and AI. Billions is being invested into AI, and from protein-folding to dominating in the game of Go, what AI can do is both exciting and a little frightening. Despite theorists warning of the existential risk AI could pose, the costs of losing the AI arms race is too great for anyone to slow down their research and development.

But while the machines advance, will a consciousness emerge within them? And if so, will the flavour of that consciousness be benevolent or harrowing?

This event is produced in association with Closer To Truth.
