A head-to-head battle between philosophy and science. Does science have all the answers or is it just one discipline among others?
The UK’s most brilliant moral philosopher Mary Midgley launches the debate by arguing that science does not have all the answers. In response, Oxford chemist Peter Atkins contends that, ultimately, science will explain all of existence.
Not content with this head to head, we gave both Midgley and Atkins the right of reply. Midgley reinforces her position by arguing that science is just one field of enquiry among others. In response, Atkins counters that, in the end, only science offers us a deep understanding of reality.
